I’m Certified!!!

As you all know, I have been studying for my GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA) certification for a little while now. Well last week I decided to schedule the exam for yesterday, and I went and took it. As it turns out, this was easily the hardest test I have taken in my entire life….or at least as far back as I can remember. The good news is that I passed the exam, after three hours of sitting at a computer and answering multiple choice questions, with an 83%. (Holla at your boy!! Whoop! Whoop!) That means I am now GCIA certified. What a freaking relief this is. I have been so stressed out lately due to this stuff that I’m pretty sure I haven’t been my normal self….well I’m back bitches!

On another note, I have a pretty busy two weeks ahead of me. I have a trip to Baltimore next week for work, and I have to pack everything in my apartment before Sunday, when I leave for Baltimore. Then I come back, have to move the day after I get back. I work for a week, and hop on a flight to Orlando, so I can go see Jeremy fight AAU Nationals in Fort Lauderdale. Come back three days later, and get right back to work. It’s gonna be a really fun, really long, next two weeks. Holy crap! Good news is that I should have some money now because my overall monthly rent and bills dropped like $1000 with this move. Can we say smart move??

Well, thats pretty much it as of lately. I should be able to provide more regular updates now that I’m not studying retardedly hard for this exam, and I will actually have some time on my hands.

Anybody that watched the Olympic Opening Ceremony knows that it was massive, and possibly one of the greatest opening ceremonies in the history of the Olympics. Granted, I haven’t been around for centuries to watch the opening ceremonies, but I know that this one was pretty intense. Let’s take a look at something that wasn’t so intense about it though.

Right at the moment when Chinese gymnast Li Ning was flying to light up the giant Olympic torch, someone took this picture. And if you think that this was Photoshopped, other people were able to take the shot from other angles.

Now thats pretty intense. Gotta love Windows!!

I’m a Studying Machine

So, as you all probably know, I am currently trying to get certified in this super tough course in Information Security, and Intrusion Analysis. Well, as it turns out, I slacked off on my studying between April and August, and now I need to study my ass of in order to take this test by September 2nd. So, along with everything else that I have going on this month (packing to move, moving, trip to Baltimore for work), I also have to study in my free time, and try to study during work hours in order to pass this exam when I do end up taking the test.

That means I have been taking time off work this week, and will be taking time off work in the next couple weeks, as my trip to Baltimore is the last week of August, and is going to last pretty much all week. On top of that, I need to be out of my apartment the day after I get back from Baltimore. This means I have to pack up everything I have in my apartment before I go to Baltimore. It’s going to be a pretty shitty month…let me just say that. Haha.

Anyway, I just wanted to update you all as to what my month is going to look like, and to inform you that I won’t be posting as often this month as it is pretty much going to be one of the longest months of my life. I’ll let you know when I schedule the test…and when I end up taking it. Wish me luck in studying, and I’ll talk to you guys in a few days (Hopefully).

I Love Linux!!

So, as you all know I have Linux installed on my laptop at home. Just recently, I remembered I could access a lot of different applications using the Command Line Interface (CLI). I actually just found an instant messenger application that runs completely inside a terminal window, and works strictly over Command Line. That means I can now chat with anybody over MSN, Yahoo!, AIM, and Google Chat using only CLI. SWEET!! I also just remembered this web browser called Lynx, It also works completely over Command Line. No mouse movements, everything is done using the arrow keys, Tab, Enter, and combinations of Alt with other keys. It’s awesome.

So far, the only disadvantage I can see with Lynx is that it doesn’t process any JavaScript, so it makes viewing certain websites a real pain in the ass, but that is also good because it means no scripts are going to run on my system and helps protect me from infection with malware (viruses, trojans, worms). How cool is that?? I know…I love linux too!

Oil Companies Aren’t Making Money?

I’m pretty sure somebody told me recently that the oil companies here in the U.S. are not making any money off gas….even with the extremely high gas prices. Let’s talk about that for a minute. Gas prices are at a record high across the country, and probably the entire world, and I know it costs me around $70 every time I want to fill up the gas tank in my car. Now, granted I have a large gas tank, and I have to put in 91 octane gas in order to keep my car running in prime condition…but seriously, I drive a sedan and it costs me $70+ every time I fill it up. What is wrong with that picture?? Anyway, those people who have said the oil companies are not earning very much money in the country’s current recession should check out how much Exxon Mobil made this last quarter. If you don’t already know, I’ll tell you. Exxon Mobil made $11.7 Billion. Yes, that is Billion with a “B”. That is the largest quarterly earning for a company in U.S. history.

Exxon Mobil said on Thursday soaring oil prices pushed its second-quarter earnings up 14 percent, again breaking its own record for the highest-ever profit by a U.S. company.

Net income in the quarter rose to $11.68 billion, or $2.22 a share, from $10.26 billion, or $1.83 a share, last year.

Now who wants to argue that the oil companies aren’t making very much money, even though gas prices are soaring through the roof on a pretty much daily basis?? I dare ya. I have proof that they are. How about they take some of that money, and instead of buying their CEO a new jet to travel the world, they put some of it into the economy that is producing record high earnings for the company, and DROP GAS PRICES!!!

So, last week when we were all hanging out, Katie told me about this pretty unbelievable thing. It was so unbelievable, that I made her look it up on the spot so that I can see it. Apparently, some guy got his entire penis, and both testicles, tattooed to look like a dragon. Honestly, what the fuck was this guy thinking? That had to be the most painful thing to EVER happen to him. How high is his tolerance for pain. I would have been sitting in the tattoo chair crying like a little baby that hasn’t eaten. Anyway, this is pretty disturbing, so I won’t put it on the main page. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (Trailer)

I just found this teaser trailer for the new Terminator movie. Check it out. It has Christian Bale playing John Connor, and will take place in the future with the human race directly against the robotic army of Skynet. Terminator Salvation is set to be released on May 22, 2009. I have heard rumors that there will be a total of three more Terminator movies, all starring Christian Bale as John Connor, but who really knows.

As you guys all know…I am a huge Christian Bale fan, and will watch any move that he is in….especially something like this. Hopefully it doesn’t suck.

28 Hours In Two Days

Yes, you did absolutely read that correctly. I know you probably don’t really know what it means yet, but just know that once you read this…you will be asking yourself “What the fuck was he thinking??”. Between Friday and Saturday, I worked 28 hours. I went into work at 6am on Friday, and didn’t get out until 7:30 that night (13.5 hours). Then, I went into work at 7am on Saturday, and didn’t walk out until 9:30pm Saturday night (14.5 hours). Now, if you think about it, and you add that up, we’re talking about 28 hours in the office between Friday and Saturday. Even worse, Saturday is my day off, and I only got a one day weekend this week. Go ahead and ask it….”What the fuck was I thinking?”. I know that’s what you were thinking, because I am thinking the exact same thing. These jobs that control our lives are terrible. There is never any personal time for people that work that much. It’s ridiculous.

Seriously, I didn’t feel like doing ANYTHING Saturday night when I got off work. I took a shower, Katie and I went and got some food, and then we sat down to watch a movie and passed out on the couch. Talk about an overly eventful day. At least I got to do a little partying on Friday night. Katie drove me home from work Friday night, and we started drinking. Made it through 45 minutes of the power hour, and then went to downtown Boulder to meet up with some people we work with for some drinks. A bunch of shots later, and the next thing I know its 2:30am and Katie and KB are dropping me off at home. Fell asleep around 3:30, and woke up at 6:30. Now, if you seriously think about it. I was hungover, got three hours of sleep, and worked for 14.5 hours. That makes it even worse. Seriously, what the hell were we thinking when we went into work on Saturday morning. SHIT!!! Good news is, we called my boss and left him a VM saying he owed us BIG for everything we did on Saturday while his phone was turned off. Yippay for us. He better hook us up big time for all this garbage we took over the weekend.

Anyway, on happier notes, J Dizzle is in Florida for the week, and I have been talking with him over text messages for the last few days. He seems to be having fun with Marci out there, and is meeting the family and all her friends. Go J, you da man! He should be back on this upcoming Friday night/Saturday morning. I am heading down to Colorado Springs this weekend for his birthday. Heading down on Saturday and hanging out until after Tuesday when I go to my doctors appointment. Then heading back up to Broomfield to get back to work on Wednesday. Should be a good time. Birthday time for J, and that means a lot of drinks for all of us…and shots for him. Haha.

Well, I’ll update you guys later on throughout the week….hopefully. If I am too tired, I probably won’t end up getting to it, but I’ll try. I swear it.

Everything Is Gonna Be All Right

Have you ever had a friend that you thought you could trust, and depend on, and then realized all of a sudden that you couldn’t? I just realized one of my friends is fairly undependable. Always looking out for themselves in every aspect. Every time they do something for you, there always appears to be an ultimatum that works out for them in the long run. Talk about a stressful friendship. When somebody you thought was a good friend and would be there for you ends up disappointing you, it feels like you’ve been stabbed in the back, it’s quite possibly one of the worst feelings in the world. Okay, maybe stabbed in the back is the wrong word for that situation, but you know what I mean, right? I’m not really sure what to do about the situation. I’ve been so stressed out lately that I’ve probably been digging that knife deeper into myself without even knowing it. It seems like some of my friends are abandoning me just because I’ve had a rough couple weeks, and haven’t been my normal chipper self. Not really sure what to do about that, but so far today has been better. Been rockin’ out all day to this Bob Marley cd, so that has me feeling a little bit better. Not to mention, I woke up this morning feeling a lot better. Not sure if it’s because it’s my last day of work before the 4th of July weekend, or if it’s because of something else…but so far, today is a good day. I’ve still got that friend that looks out for themselves all the time, but everybody looks out for themselves. Would just be nice to have them look out for somebody else from time to time…ya know!!

Anyways, some friends and I are going to a Rockies game tonight, then some bar hopping. Getting some drinks, and gonna have a good time. Don’t have any set in stone plans for the rest of the weekend, but I know some of my friends are trying to get me to go up to Nebraska with them to go to this lake and hit up some jet skis. Might do that on Saturday…but only if I can get somebody to drive back to Colorado with me when we are done with the jet skiing. I can’t really camp out, plus J Dizzle is going to be up this weekend to party it up on the 4th…gotta hang out with the big brizzle. Haha. I’ll let you know how the weekend goes. So far, it’s looking up!!

UPDATE: The day just went from really good….to really shitty. Seriously in a matter of an hour. Go fuckin’ figure!
